About Cover Page Templates

When you create a cover page template, you must first choose the editor application. After you create the cover page template, save it in a compatible file format in the following directory on the Upland AccuRoute server:

...\Upland AccuRoute\AccuRoute\Languages\ENU\CoverPages\

Cover page templates should be saved as HTML, OMTPL, Microsoft Word, or RTF files. For information on appropriate editor application file formats, see Cover page template file formats below.

Note: Important! The file name of the cover page template should not contain any spaces.

Cover page templates file formats

Before creating a cover page template, you must choose one of the following file formats.

Note: If you create a file which is in a different format than the ones listed below, the server will not recognize it as a cover page template.

  • HTML (*.htm, *.html) - Use this file format for cover pages that have graphical content. To create the template, use an HTML editor and link to any graphics in the cover page. Store any graphics and objects linked to cover pages in the same directory where you save cover page templates.

  • Microsoft Word (*.doc) - Use this file format for text-based cover pages.

  • Omtool Template (*.omtpl) - Use this file format for RTF-formatted, text-based cover pages. When you create OMTPL cover page templates, use Microsoft WordPad.

Note: WordPad preserves text formatting and works well with the server.

  • Rich Text Format (*.rtf) - Use this file format for RTF-formatted, text-based cover pages. When you create RTF cover page templates, use Microsoft WordPad.

Note: WordPad preserves text formatting and works well with the server.

Creating cover pages with graphics

Cover page templates with graphical content should be created with an HTML editor and saved as HTML files with an .htm or .html extension.

Tip: For cover page templates with graphical content, you should create a separate folder for images in the directory where you store the template files. For example, you can create an image folder for storing images: ...\Upland AccuRoute\AccuRoute\Languages\ENU\Coverpages\images\

Creating a folder for linked images can make updating the templates easier because all the files are stored in a central location.

Adding cover page templates to profiles

When adding cover page templates to profiles, Outlook profiles (local and public folder), Notes profiles (group and local), Filescan control files, or SMTP cover page control files, use the following guidelines:

  • If the template has the .omtpl file extension, do not include the extension. Simply enter the name of the file. For example, if the file is named coverpage.omtpl, enter coverpage when adding the template.

  • If the template has an .htm, .html, .doc, or .rtf file extension, include the file extension when adding the template. For example, if the file is named coverpage.htm, enter coverpage.htm when adding the template.
