About Large Job Composer

Large job composers are configured primarily for scanning large documents that can be resource intensive. The advantage of configuring a large job composer is that it allows time consuming scan jobs to be handled by specific composers thereby freeing up other smaller or more important jobs to continue through the system without being blocked for a long time by the large jobs.

A scan job is handled by the large job composer only if:

  • It meets a specific document file size criteria

  • It meets a certain page count size (for PDF and TIF only)

  • The scan job was marked for a large job composer (by setting prUseLargeJobComposer to 1 on the job or in the rule that routes the job).

Note: A scan jobs that time out the first time is marked for a large job composer automatically for the retry.

If you request a large job composer for a job and a large job composer does not exist in your environment, the message does not queue up on a normal composer and fails.
