Required Configurations and Installations

The following configurations and installations are required as part of the server setup.

Creating a Service account

The service account is a dedicated Windows user account that is designed to run Upland AccuRoute services on the server.

Note: Important! Upland AccuRoute recommends that you do not change this account or the password associated with it.

The service account user must belong to and have:

  • Domain Users group in the domain where the server is being installed
  • Local Administrators group on the system where the server is being installed
  • A password that never expires

Note: You can create or select a Windows user account as the service account. For instructions on creating Windows user accounts, consult Windows Help.

The Admins group consists of all users who run the Server Administrator (either on the Upland AccuRoute server or on a Remote Administrator). These users must have Distributed COM access, launch, and configuration permissions on the server.

To create an Admins group

  1. Go to Active Directory or LDAP and locate the domain where the server is being installed.
  2. Create a group for Server Administrator users and name the group Upland AccuRoute Admins.
  3. Add all users who will run the Server Administrator to the Admins group.
  4. Log in to the system where the server is being installed using an account that belongs to the local Administrators group.
  5. Add the Admins group to the local Administrators group. When you need to add additional users to run the Server Administrator, you can add them to the Admins group.

 

The ExchangeX connector on the server is a gateway to ExchangeX, and the service account (the logon account for the Connector Manager service) must have specific permissions.

ExchangeX 2010 and Exchange Server 2013

For ExchangeX 2010 and Exchange Server 2013, permission is needed to access the drop directory when creating the ExchangeX connector. For more information on the drop directory, consult Microsoft documentation about Foreign Connectors.

 

The server utilizes the MS SQL Express database to store and archive messages. It requires access to one of the following SQL database applications: SQL Express 2016, 2012 or 2008.

Use one of the following SQL database applications.

SQL Express 2016, 2012 or 2008 - This limited Microsoft SQL database application provides the basic database services the server needs to maintain its SQL databases. It is licensed as part of the server installation.

  • SQL Express must be installed local to the server.
  • SQL Express installation requires Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0.

When installed on the server, SQL Express must only service databases for Upland AccuRoute. Consider that installing an instance of SQL Express on the server might require the purchase of an additional SQL Express license.

Note: Important! Installing the full SQL Server (2016/2012/2008) on the server is not recommended. If undetected during the automated prerequisites check, a minimum version of Microsoft SQL Express 2012 is automatically installed.
