About Cleanup

The Maintenance component removes messages from the Upland AccuRoute server database in regular intervals—this interval can be configured between 3 and 180 days. Optionally, you can configure the Maintenance component to remove billing records. By purging messages and billing records you no longer need, cleanup also prevents the server database from continually increasing in size.

While you can configure the removal of messages and billing records separately, these tasks are collectively called "cleanup". Cleanup runs as a scheduled task on the Windows system where the server database is located, and can be scheduled using the Server Administrator or Scheduled Tasks. You can also run cleanup manually. When cleanup runs, items are marked for deletion and deleted at 5am the following day.

Note: Important! You must run cleanup using the Server Administrator. You cannot run cleanup from a Remote Administrator.

Configuring cleanup

You can configure cleanup for the Upland AccuRoute server by using the Server Administrator > Components node.

Note: Important! You cannot run cleanup from a Remote Administrator. You must run cleanup through the Server Administrator.

To configure cleanup for the server

Start the Server Administrator.
On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.
On the console tree, expand the Server Administrator tree.
Double-click Components. The Components are listed in the details pane.
Click Maintenance component to open the Properties dialog box.
Click the Cleanup tab.
In the Queues section, select the number of days the Maintenance component should leave successful messages in the server database before deleting them in the Remove successful messages older than [...] days option.
In the Queues section, select the number of days the Maintenance component should leave failed messages in the server database before deleting them in the Remove failed messages older than [...] days option if you want the Maintenance component to remove messages that failed to archive.
In the Billing section, select the Remove billing entries older than [...] days option to run cleanup on billing records in the server database. Enter the appropriate number of days in the spin box (the default is 180 days).
In the Connector and Component Journals section, select the Remove billing entries after [...] days option to run cleanup on messages in the connectors, components and the journals in the server database. Enter the appropriate number of days in the spin box (the default is 60 days).
In the Application Data section, select the Remove Application Data not accessed in [...] days option to remove application data from the server database. Specify the appropriate number of days in the spin box (the default is 180 days).
In the Activity Log section, select the Remove Activity Log entries older than [...] days option to remove activity log entries from the server database. Specify the appropriate number of days in the spin box (the default is 2 days).
In the Secure Print section, select the Remove Secure Print entries older than [...] days option to remove secure print entries from the server database. Specify the appropriate number of days in the spin box (the default is 3 days).
In the Folder Cleanup section, use the Add button to specify cleanup folders, when to delete files, and remove empty folders, if necessary.
Click OK on the Cleanup Folder Properties dialog box.
Click OK to save your changes to the Maintenance component.

When cleanup runs, items are marked for deletion and deleted at 5 am the following day.

Running cleanup manually

You can manually run a server database cleanup by using the Server Administrator > Components node.

To manually run a server database cleanup

Start the Server Administrator.
On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.
On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.
Double-click Components. The Components are listed in the details pane.
Click the Maintenance component to open the Properties dialog box. The General settings appear.
Click the Advanced button. The Schedule settings appear.
Click Run Now.
Click OK.

Note: When cleanup runs, items are marked for deletion and deleted at 5 am the following day.

Scheduling cleanup

You can schedule a server database cleanup by using the Server Administrator > Components node.

To schedule a server database cleanup

Start the Server Administrator.
On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.
On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.
Double-click Components. The Components are listed in the details pane.
Click Maintenance component to open the Properties dialog box. The General settings appear.
Click the Advancedbutton.
Click the Schedule button and specify your account information, if necessary.
Click OK. The Task settings appear.
Select your Task parameters, if necessary.
Click the Schedule tab, and specify your schedule parameters.
Click Advanced if you want to specify an end date, create a recurring task, or configure additional schedule options and click OK.
Click the Settings tab and configure the options appropriately for the cleanup task. For more information about these options, consult Windows Help.
Click OK to save your Schedule settings.
Click OK to save the changes to the Advanced properties.
Click OK to save the changes to the Maintenance component properties.

Note: When cleanup runs, items are marked for deletion and deleted at 5am the following day.
