About Content Monitor Component

The Content Monitor (CM) is a tool that supports Data Loss Protection and Prevention (DLP) with customizable document searching (using CM Profiles) and pre- and post-delivery message review options, including the WebApps User Interface Security Station application.

Successful DLP requires the ability to analyze messages and attachments for key terms and/or patterns while they are being processed by the Upland AccuRoute server.

In the CM workflow, the system uses Content Monitor Profiles (CM Profiles) to search documents being processed for specific content. Given appropriate configuration, when the system identifies documents matching a CM Profile, it routes those messages within the Administrator or to the WebApps User Interface Security Station (Preview) for review. Before message delivery occurs, authorized users can approve or reject messages sent by users through the system. Users can also review messages after delivery to determine whether they were correctly processed.

For more information on approving or rejecting jobs or working with attachments in the Security Station, refer to the For Client Users > Security Station Quick Start Guide.

Requirements

Before you begin setting up your system to use Content Monitor, make sure you already have:

  • Installed a primary server.
  • Applied a Content Monitor license (and any other licenses needed).

Configuring and working with Content Monitor

  • System Administrators set up CM Profiles in the Configuration node.
  • In Rule Properties, they can customize Rule workflows by adding and configuring a Content Monitor action and related Job properties.
  • Administrators assign CM Profile access to specific user groups in the Clients > CM Access section of Group Properties.

Explore Content Monitoring with the CM Trial Profile

The CM Trial Profile has been developed for trial purposes only and enables the Content Monitor component to look for a set of preconfigured data in a job’s attachments. If any of the preconfigured data is identified the Content Monitor component will audit and capture all findings in an internal server database. The data can then be exported to a CSV file. Only auditing occurs when the appropriate data is identified. Any of the server’s rules can be enabled to use the CM Trial Profile.

By default, the CM Trial Profile can be set up to audit the following data.

  • Social Security Numbers (format xxx-xx-xxxx)

  • Credit Card Numbers (format xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx)

  • Specific words: Confidential, Private, Secret, Resume, CV, Curriculum Vitae, Urgent, Draft

Note: The CM Trial Profile can be customized based on your workflow requirements. Contact your Account Manager for a trial license and hassle-free setup by Technical Support.
