Configuring DNIS
You can configure a Dialed Number Identification Service (DNIS) number by using the Server Administrator > Connectors node.
To configure DNIS
-
Check the box beside Capture DNIS if the server should capture the destination number of inbound faxes. (This requires that DNIS service is enabled on the line and connected to this channel.)
-
In the DNIS Format text box, enter the format of the DNIS string. For example: #<DD><ANI>*#<DNIS>*
Note: If you do not know the DNIS format, contact your telephone company and ask for the format.
-
Enter a mask for DID lookup if necessary.
This setting should be modified if DID lookup requires additional digits that are not part of the captured string. Use DNIS to indicate the location of the destination number dialed by the sender.
Suppose DID lookups require a 10 digit number but there are only 4 digits in the captured string. The 4 digits represent the DID extension of the recipient. In this case, you can create a mask with the area code and DID trunk so that they are inserted before the DID extension and the resulting string is 10 digits. For example, the captured DTMF digits are 8888 but the format required to complete a DID lookup is 978-334-8888, create the mask 978334XXXX. The resulting string is 9783348888 and a 10 digit DID lookup based on this format is successful.
