To configure Sending properties of a channel
Note: Connection Timeout, Retry attempts, Retry Interval, Do not dial a number being dialed by another channel and Resend Partial are all global properties that are extracted from the first send channel.
-
Start the Server Administrator.
-

-

In the Timing section, configure the following.
-
In the Connection Timeout spin box, enter the number of seconds the channel should wait for a dial tone before timing out. Enter 0 to use the fax board manufacturer's default setting.
Note: Some countries have laws governing connection timeout.
-
In the Retry Attempts spin box, enter the number of times the channels should attempts to call a fax number that returns a busy signal. After the given number of retry attempts, the fax will fail.
-
In the Retry Interval spin box, enter the number of seconds the channel should wait between retry attempts.
-
-
In the Dial Options section, configure the following:
-
In the Dialing Rule drop-down list, select the dialing rule you want to associate with this channel.
-
In the Characters Allowed 0-9 box, define any non-numeric characters that should be permitted in dialing strings.
-
-
Select the Do not dial a number being dialed by another channel option if you do not want this channel to dial a number that another channel is dialing at the same time.
(This option can improve the dialing efficiency of your sending channels. If another channel is already dialing or connected to the destination fax number, this channel does not dial the same number. Instead it returns the outbound fax to a general queue where outbound faxes wait to be sent by the next available channel.)
-
Select the Resend Partial option if you want the channel to resend partial faxes after a transmission failure occurs. When a fax is sent, each page is acknowledged by the receiving fax machine.
If this option is enabled and a fax fails to transmit properly, the server will attempt to send the fax again. It will attach a cover page and start the fax again after the last page acknowledged by the receiving fax machine.
For example, if you are sending a five page fax and pages one and two are acknowledged by the receiving fax machine, but an interruption occurs during the transmission of page three, the fax will be sent again with a cover page and will start at page three.
