Run an Automation Program
After editing your program and associating it with a data input, you will need to publish, activate, and test your program.
From the automation menu, you can also:
-
Copy a program - you will be asked to name it before being taken to the program editor for that copy.
-
Change the workspace - use the Select Workspace button in the Workspace tab to select a new workspace.
-
The program must be in draft mode, i.e. not published.
-
The new workspace must have the same core table.
-
After moving a program, workspace specific program editor nodes might return errors. You must make these broken nodes accessible from the new workspace.
-
-
Delete a program - confirm the deletion and you will be taken back to the list of automation programs.
Publishing a program
Publishing checks the program for invalid stages, alerting you if these are present, and ensures it's ready to activate.
Press the Publish Program button to finalise your program.
If publishable, a new version will be saved. You can only activate a published program.
Activating a program
The Activate option will not show until the program has been published.
The active status of your program controls whether it will perform any actions or not:
- Active - program is 'live'. Contacts added to the program will move through it. The program cannot be edited.
- Inactive - program is not live. Contacts added will sit at the first stage waiting to be activated. The program can be edited.
Note: if contacts are added to a paused program that is then activated, contacts will progress through any stages following their addition to the program.
Testing a program
It is good practice to test a program before sending to other contacts, i.e. before you associate any forms, lists or others programs.
To test an automation program you will need to place a test user into the program manually. When added, they will go through the stages you have created.
Should you have delay stages that you want to skip as part of testing:
-
Pause the program.
-
Reactivate the program.
You can review the contact's progress on the editor canvas by:
-
Selecting the stage.
-
Checking the Active and Processed numbers.
Tip: remember to reactivate your program after making edits to move a contact through the stages.
