Purchased Filter

Note: This is an On Demand feature. If you would like more information about this feature, contact your account manager.

The purchased filter allows users to segment data on transaction data, stored against a contact. This enables users to create filters based on purchase behaviour and send targeted campaigns for maximum success.

In order to filter by a transactional rule, select 'Purchased' from the Rule Category drop-box.

Note: To use this filter, you must have transactional data available on your account. For more information, contact your account manager at account.management@adestra.com.

On this page:

After selecting one of the two Rule types available, clicking 'Ok' will display further transactional options for a more detailed filter.

Specific Products Options

Specific Products allow users to filter a list of contacts based on a specific product, for example all contacts who have bought this one product.

When filtering on a specific product you'll need to select a brand, and the product itself using the selectors provided. Clicking the selectors will display a list of brand or product data to select, from account data. There are other purchase options for Dates and Values.

Product Type Options

Product Types will filter contacts based on a product brand, for example, anyone who has purchased a product from this brand. This option uses product tags or transaction tags.

By filtering using the 'Product Type' rule, additional options allow users to further define products by Brand, Product or Transaction tags.

When using Product or Transaction tags, you are able to specify whether a contact requires at least one or all of the specified transaction tags by selecting either the any or all radio button. The default is set to any

As with Specific Products, users can select a brand from the account data. Product tags or transaction tags are manually entered to match that within the contact records, allowing users to be specific.

Dates and Values

For both Specific Products and Product Types users are able to further refine the rule using values or time frames. Allowing users to filter contacts based on individual attributes of any transaction they have performed.

Transaction Values

All options allow for a minimum or maximum value to be entered for each, it is optional which or how many selectors a user chooses to filter on.

  • Average Value—Filter contacts by the average value of their transactions, such as those contact with an average spend between £20 and £30
  • Total Value—Using the overall value of all transactions to segment data, for example all contacts who have spent a minimum of £300 in total
  • Number of Orders—Filtering data using the total number of orders made by a contact, such as segmenting any regular customers with over 100 orders

Product Values

As with Transaction Values, the Product Values options allow for minimum and maximum values to be enter for further filtering.

  • Average Value—Filter contacts on the average value of the products they have purchased, such as an average spend of between £1 to £10 per product
  • Total Value—Using the total of a contacts entire spend to filter data, for example filtering for the highest spenders with a minimum total spend of £2000
  • Number of products—Filtering on the number of products bought regardless of value, such as filtering those who have bought over 100 products

Purchase Date

Entering a purchase start or end date allows users to give the rule a time constraint, for example a filter as simple as any purchases made within the last month. Choosing a fixed date allows users to manually enter specific dates, alternatively selecting "Today's" Date will create a rule using the current day as a starting point.

For example, users could filter anyone who has performed a transaction within the last four months by selecting a purchase start date of "Today's Date" minus four months. This means that each time the rule runs, it will filter out four months from the current day.

Clicking Ok will create the rule, and the outline of the filter will turn blue to indicate that it has been successfully created.

Additional Start and End Date

Unlike the purchase date, which is automatically created with a transaction, the additional start and end dates are given by the user at the time of import.

They can be used in exactly the same way as the other date filters, but allow additional flexibility in the control of a product's life cycle.
