Accessibility Checker
An Accessibility Checker scans for potential accessibility issues that may make it difficult for people with disabilities to read, understand, or interact with the email.
The AI Accessibility Checker helps users identify potential accessibility problems in their emails so they can make the content more accessible to a wider audience.
For example, an accessibility check can find:
-
Missing alternative text: Images that do not have descriptions for people who use screen readers.
-
Colour contrast: Text that is hard to read because the text and background colours are too similar.
-
Text readability: Content that some people might find hard to read or understand.
-
Accessible content structure: Problems with headings or other parts that help people move through the email.
Why is this helpful?
The Accessibility Checker helps to identify potential barriers, improve email usability, and create content more people can access and understand.
When users select Accessibility Checker from the three-dot menu in Email Designer, a disclaimer appears. Users can read the disclaimer and then decide to continue with the scan or cancel. The checker only starts if the user chooses to proceed.
Benefits
Decision-making: The disclaimer gives users a chance to review important information before the AI Accessibility Checker begins. This helps them understand what to expect and decide if they want to continue with the scan.
Greater user control: Users can decide to continue with the accessibility check or close the disclaimer if they do not want to go ahead. The checker only runs when users clearly choose to proceed.
Improved transparency: Showing the disclaimer before the scan helps users understand the information linked to the AI-powered accessibility feature. This sets clear expectations before the checker starts processing the email.
A clear, predictable workflow: The extra confirmation step ensures the accessibility scan does not start right away when users select the checker. Users can review the disclaimer and confirm their choice before the scan begins.
Responsible use of AI: Showing the disclaimer before running the checker encourages users to review important information before using AI to find accessibility issues in their email designs.
A better user experience: Having the disclaimer separate from the scan lets users understand the information and decide what to do next. This makes the process clearer and gives users more confidence and control when using the AI Accessibility Checker.
