File Manager

The File Manager is where you can store your files for use in your campaigns. It is one of the primary areas that can be accessed through the header at the top of the screen, via the 'Files' tab.

All files uploaded to the file manager are publicly accessible, apart from .csv files, so they are available for use in campaigns across Adestra.

Accessing Files in the File Manager

When you access the file manager within a workspace, the files displayed are for that workspace only. Anyone with permissions for the workspace can access these files.

To view the files available for the logged in user, in the Files for drop-down, select user. The files stored in this section are manageable to the logged in user and are accessible throughout the workspace.

To view the files stored for an account, in the File for drop-down, select account. The files stored in this section are available to all the users within that account.

When you access File Manager from a Project, the files displayed are specific to that individual project, but you can also view the files for the workspace, user, or account using the drop-down.

You can manage your files using the function buttons located above the file display area.

Searching files

The search bar allows you to search files at a specific level by entering a full or a partial file name.

Before searching a file, make sure you are at the expected Files for level like project, workspace, user, or account.

Note: The search functionality returns result even if the search string matches only a part of the file name.

Moving files

Any file type can be cut, copied, and pasted within the File Manager. To cut or copy a file, select it using the radio button on the left hand side, then click the 'Cut' or 'Copy' button. The file will be displayed waiting underneath the function buttons.

You can then choose a folder or use the drop-down box to select the area of the File Manager you wish to move the file to, and then click the 'Paste' button.

You can also rename or delete any of your files by selecting the relevant file and then clicking the 'Rename' or 'Delete' buttons.

Folders

If you wish to organise your files into folders you can use the 'New folder' button to create and assign names to folders. You can move existing files into folders or you can upload new files.

The 'Back' button can be used at any time to return to the previous folder that you viewed.

Unzipping

If your email content has been supplied in a zip file, the 'Unzip' button will open the file for you to extract the content and images.

When unzipping you will be asked to select a domain, and this domain will be used to make the images publicly available online. You can select a domain relevant to your campaign by using the drop-down box.

Viewing

Files that are publicly available, for example content and images, can be previewed using the 'Preview' button, or downloaded to your computer.

However, files that are not publicly available, for example CSV files, cannot be previewed; they need to be downloaded using the 'Download' button, in order for you to view them.

Linking

You can also make a link to publicly available files. The 'Make link' button will prompt you to select a domain, which will produce a link for you to copy. This can then be used to link to the file within your campaign.

File types you can link include:

  • jpg
  • gif
  • pdf
  • png
  • html
  • text
  • doc
  • docx
  • ics
  • vcs

Uploading

You can upload new files using the 'Upload file' button or simply drag and drop files from your computer onto the File Manager area to upload it.

There is a breadcrumb bar at bottom of the file manager area. This can be useful if your files are organised in a hierarchy of folders, to show you where you are and to navigate back.

Note: Our platform will not accept files above 50MB, files without an extension, or potentially dangerous files (such as an executable .exe).

If you can't upload a file

If you are having trouble uploading a file, check to make sure the file type you're trying to upload is supported. Disallowed file formats include .EXE and .RAR.

If you are trying to upload another file type and are still encountering problems, contact Adestra Customer Support (adestra-support@uplandsoftware.com).

Grid/List View

It is possible to change the file manager view to a grid, where images will be previewed. This is done by clicking 'Grid View', which will toggle to 'List View' when the grid is being viewed. It is possible to scale the size of the thumbnails up or down using the slider at the bottom of the file manager, for whatever size best suits.
