Using Forms

Using your Forms is easy. You can add them to your campaigns with either of our editors using a form link, or host them on your website with the form URL.

Types of Forms

Although you create forms in the same way, there are two different ways in which you can use them.

Static

A static form is one you would host on your website using the Form URL and is suited to capturing more data, to grow your database.

When a user looks at the form all the fields will be blank, allowing them to fill in their details.

Pre-filled

A pre-filled form would be used within a campaign. This is done using a Form Link or using the functionality within the editors.

These forms will pre-fill with contact data based on the table fields associated to the form. These are great for preference centres, or other forms where existing information being displayed is required or useful.

Using Forms in the Email Editor

Forms can be added to the Email Editor using its Email Tools functionality. By using the Form Link option, any contacts using the form will have any relevant data pre-filled.

Click the Email Tools menu and select 'Form Link'. A pop-up will then display the available forms for you to place in the campaign.

The Form Link is available to the following Email Editor attributes:

  • Textline
  • Text Box
  • HTML Box
  • Link URL

Using Forms in the HTML Editor

The HTML Editor features a form link button too, which allows you to automatically insert a link to the form into your template.

This will allow you to select the form you wish to link to, and insert this link [*form.link(id)*].

Adding Form Links Manually

Alternatively, there are different versions of the link you can manually insert to generate different URLs.

You will need to enter the relevant form's unique ID, which you can find via the 'Forms' tab, each form is listed with the ID displayed in the left hand column.

[*form.link_ssl(id)*] will insert a https link to the form. For example:

[*form.link_url(id)*] will insert just the text for the http URL, for example:

[*form.link_url_ssl(id)*] will insert just the text for the https URL, for example:

Form URL

Once an email element has been added to a form, the 'Form URL' field will be available in the top part of the Form Overview workspace.

This is a link to your form which can be copied and pasted, for use on either your website or a campaign.

Form Download

If your form contains an email element, the 'Download' section will be available. These links allow you to download the form to place on your own webpage.

The 'Styled Form' link will download the form and the template, the 'Unstyled Form' link will just download the form. The form will be a static form containing default values.
