Working with OTP Tokens

Note: This is an On Demand feature. If you would like more information about this feature, contact your account manager.

OTP tokens generate one-time passcodes which, when used in combination with your log in details, provide a two-factor authentication system, increasing the security for your Adestra account.

Each token is assigned to an individual user and cannot be shared between users. Each passcode generated is displayed for a 30 seconds and is only valid for one use.

Logging In Using Your OTP Token

Adestra is available at http://app.adestra.com/

To log in, you will need to enter your Adestra credentials, including your account name, username, and password.

You will then need to press your token to generate a one-time passcode, and enter this in the 'One-time passcode' box, then click 'Log in'.

Setting Up Your OTP Token

Once you have been assigned a token, it will need to be associated to your user in Adestra. You can do this yourself, without the need for admin privileges.

To associate the token, you need to log in to Adestra with your user credentials. Until you have associated the token, the log in screen will require your account, username and password.

Once you have logged in, you will notice a banner at the top of the screen prompting you to associate the token with your user.

Clicking the 'Associate OTP Token' button will open a form to associate your token. Associating a token requires only two steps; entering the serial number and an OTP code.

The serial number is the 13-digit number on the back of the token. You will then need to press the token to generate a one-time passcode, and enter this in the required field. Clicking 'Submit' will return you to your workspace, with a notification at the top of the screen displaying 'This token is now associated with your account'.

The next time you come to log in to Adestra, the log in screen will still only display fields for your account, username and password. If you attempt to log in with just these details, the log in will fail and an additional box will then be displayed for a one-time passcode. You will be prompted to supply a passcode with your other details in order to log in.

From this point on, when you log in to Adestra, the log in screen will always display the one-time passcode box.

FAQ

Can I disassociate the token from my user?

Only users with admin privileges can disassociate tokens from users, contact your account manager or Adestra Customer Support (adestra-support@uplandsoftware.com).

When I go to log in using my OTP token, the log in fails. Is my token broken?

It is possible that your OTP token has become out of sync with Adestra. This can happen if the token is pressed too many times, normally by accident, and the generated passcodes are not used to log in. Tokens can be re-synced by admin users; for more help, contact your account manager or Adestra Customer Support (adestra-support@uplandsoftware.com).

When I press my token nothing happens.

If your token appears to be broken, contact Adestra Customer Support (adestra-support@uplandsoftware.com).

My OTP passcode has letters as well as numbers in, is this right?

When you 'PRESS' your token to generate a passcode, the button should be on the left. This is the correct way up for the token, and the passcode will be made up of numbers only.
