Installing the Reporting Package

Pre-installation considerations

The following need to be considered before installing the package:

  • The package contains nine custom report types. If your org is approaching, or has reached, its custom report type limit, you will need to delete some report types in order to be able to install the package.

  • The package adds four custom fields to the Opportunity object and one custom field to the Account object. If your org has reached its limit on custom field additions to these objects, you will need to remove some fields in order to install the package.

Note: Regarding the opportunity custom fields, these formulas include lookup references to fields on two different objects: the Altify Opportunity object and its associated Test & Improve object. These references will count towards the opportunity's limit of 15 object references in formulas. If your org is already at or close to this limit, the package may fail to install with an error of the following form: The formula references fields across X unique relationships while only Y are allowed. Some existing references will have to be removed or, alternatively, a case can be opened with Salesforce to increase the limit, up to maximum of 20. For more information, see the Salesforce documentation.

  • The reporting package is designed to work with multi-currency orgs by default. If your org is a single-currency org, a separate version of the package is available. Contact our Support team team for assistance.

  • The opportunity and account plan status values presented in the dashboards are based on values calculated by opportunity and account completeness batch jobs. If not already configured, these should be set to run on a regular schedule (daily or weekly). For more information, see Completeness Scoring and Altify Statuses [AM]/Completeness Scoring and Altify Statuses [OM].

  • The reports and dashboards in the package are designed for use with Salesforce Lightning Experience mode. Users still on Salesforce Classic will need to switch to Lightning when using the dashboards for the following reasons:

    • Several of the opportunity-based reports in the package have a dependency on row-level formulas which are a Lightning-only feature. These reports are used to support the opportunity and sales process dashboards.

    • Each of the dashboards includes a number of Lightning table widgets, used to display tabular data. When the dashboards are viewed in Salesforce Classic, these widgets are not displayed.

    • The dashboards were created in Lightning - this means that they are editable only in Lightning. They can be viewed, but not edited, in Salesforce Classic. Read this article in the Salesforce online help for further information.

  • For Account Manager customers where product solution mapping has been enabled, widgets that show the split of planned pipeline by solution may not be accurate for current opportunities. Contact our Support team team for assistance.

Installing the package

To install the Altify Dashboards and Reports in your org, do the following:

  1. Open the package installation URL in your browser. This URL is provided by Altify.

  2. Log into Salesforce.com with your administration username and password.

  3. Select Install for All Users when the install window opens.

Note: If you prefer to Install for Admins Only, then note that users will not, by default, have access to the custom fields installed by the package. The package includes a permission set which can be used to grant users read access to these fields if this is the case.

  4. Click Install.

  5. After a short interval, you should see a confirmation that the package has been installed. Click Done.

  6. For post-install verification, check that your org now has an Altify Status Dashboards folder (with the three Altify dashboards) and an Altify Status Reports folder (containing all of the dependent reports).

    Note

    • If your org is using Enhanced Folder Sharing, you can enable user access to the reports and dashboards by explicitly sharing each folder with the relevant users or roles within your organization.

    • In a single currency installation, these folders will be called Altify Status Dashboards SC and Altify Status Reports SC.

Once installed, there are further considerations that might require Tailoring the Package for Your Org.
