About the Objective EDM Connector

This version of the Objective Connector connects directly to your Objective database. By enumerating data directly from the database we are able to index larger sets of data and check for changes more rapidly.

This table lists Objective functions that are supported/not supported in the current version:  + supported in the specified connector mode,  – not supported in the specified connector mode.

Important! Some items might not be visible in the SharePoint Search results list.

Objective EDM system grants the access to a resource if user has explicit grant access and deny access to the resource. Connector Framework and Microsoft SharePoint behave differently in the same circumstances: meaning the user will have denied access to the resource.

Hypothesis

  • userX belongs to GroupA and GroupB,
  • objectX is a child of FolderX
  • GroupA has denied the access on FolderX, but GroupB has granted access on objectX

Current behavior

In Objective EDM, userX will have access to FolderX and objectX, because userX belongs to GroupB

The Objective connector will denied the userX access to objectX, because userX belongs to at least one group that has access denied -GroupA.

Incremental Crawl Behavior

When it’s executing an incremental crawl, this connector has a different internal behavior in relation to other connectors.

It queries the source system for all items that have changed past the last crawl date.

Because of this, detecting the changes can be a bit slower, but it won’t affect the retrieval of the items themselves during the crawl.
