Define the Content Source

  1. In the Framework Admin Console, select the Content tab.
  2. From the Content Management drop-down list, select New > Secure SQL Content.
  3. This opens the Content Info tab.
  4. In the Connection field, select the existing database connection for your data.
  5. For Title, enter a unique name.
  6. Check Enabling Indexing when you're ready to begin indexing with SharePoint, and set up your crawl schedules by clicking "New".
  7. Enter or change the Crawl Start Point that is used as the starting point if your data supports incremental crawling with a last update date.
  8. Set the Max Paging Size to break up the number of items to queue for crawling into smaller sections of content as need to minimize impact on your source system.
    • Most systems can handle 20,000.
  9. In the Content Localization field, enter a valid localization ID (LCID) if your content is in a different localization than the default.
    1. This is useful if your SharePoint Farm is in a different country than your data.
    2. Click the Full List link to choose a localization.
  10. Click Save.
