How to Install and Configure Your Connector

Installation

To install Most BA Insight connectors are installed in the same, repeatable fashion.

If your connector requires specialized installation, that information is provided in the connector's help topics.

To install your BA Insight connector, use an installation video (optional), and the generic installation instructions in the connector topic.

Most connectors are simply downloaded from the Upland Right Answers Portal to your source machine, unblocked, extracted, and installed using the installation wizard.

Configure your connector for your connector framework application (Connectivity Hub or Connector Framework) using the specific settings contained in your connector topic.

BA Insight Connector Installation by Type

BA Insight connectors are one of two types:

  • Web-service connectors
    • Most BA Insight connectors are of this type
      • Sub-types include:
        • Datastore: MS Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint Online/On-Premise, eVault, ServiceNow, and Symantec Vault
        • Repository: Documentum, IBM FileNet, IBM Connections, Micro Focus Content Manager, Microsoft Dynamics, NetDocuments, OpenText Content Server, and Salesforce
        • Other: FileShare, WebCrawler, and more
        • Custom: BA Insight can create connectors customized to your specialized needs and applications: this is not commonly requested.
      • Each sub-type is installed and configured the same way, with specific configurations for each connector
      • Each connector documentation topic provides specific configuration information.
    • Contained in a .msi file downloaded from the Upland Right Answers Portal
    • Installed via installation wizard
    • Installed to IIS server
    • Appear under "Sites" in IIS
    • Each connector has a default port number than can be changed
      • The port number can also be found in IIS

  • Database connectors
    • BA Insight Connectors of this type are SQL templates
      • Ex: Aderant, eDocs, iManage, Interaction, SQL (any relational database system), and West KM
    • Contained in a .zip file downloaded from the Upland Right Answers Portal
    • Template is imported into your connector framework application: Connectivity Hubor Connector Framework
      • You create a Connection and Content Source in your framework application using the imported template.
      • The template contains all the SQL code required to retrieve data from the database.
    • Required information (from client):
      • Database connection details: server address, account credentials, etc.

Installation Walk-Thru Videos

Installation videos are available for Datastore and Repository type connectors.

No installation videos are available for Database, Other, or Custom type connectors at this time.

All connectors that fall into these respective categories can be installed using their respective videos.
