How to Set Up and Configure the eDocs Connector

All BA Insight connectors can be downloaded from Right Answers under Knowledge > BA Insight > Product Downloads > Connectors.

This connector is installed with the same generic steps as any BA Insight connector.

Satisfy the Prerequisites for your connector before installing.

Configuration specifics are detailed below.

Connector Installation Specifics

The eDocs connector is a Template SQL connector.

Template SQL Connectors are distributed as package files (in XML format) and must be registered in Connector Framework.

These instructions walk you through the installation of the package:

  1. Download eDocs package file from BA Insight to a convenient location.

  2. Open the Connector Framework management web site.

  3. Go to Tools > Templates and click Import Template.

  4. Open the eDocs package file in any text editor such as Notepad and copy the contents of the file to the clipboard.

    Important!     Do not use IE to open the template file because it might display the XML file with additional navigation characters (+ characters), which will be copied to the clipboard, creating an invalid XML file.

  5. Paste the XML into the Template XML field on the Connector Framework management web site.

  6. Click Load XML. Leave the Is Dataset Template check box unchecked and click Save.

Define your Connection and Content in your BA Insight connector framework application: Connector Framework or Connectivity Hub.

Connection Configuration Specifics

  1. To configure your connection, open your connection framework application.

  2. Navigate to the Connections tab.

  3. Use the information from the following table for the various fields on the Connections page:

Field

Description

Title

Enter a unique descriptive title for the connection. This is a required field.

Content Owner

Enter a valid domain account in the format domain\userid with full rights to the search results.

Template

From the drop-down, choose the SQL Template that you installed.

License Key

Select the license key from the drop-down list that applies to this Connector.

Database Name

Enter the name of the database you are establishing the connection for.

Database Login

Select authentication model to connect to the database.

Authentication Mode

Connector Framework will use either of the following authentication modes:

  • Service Account: Connector Framework will use AD authentication to connect to the database.
    Note:     You must grant read rights to all of the domain accounts that SharePoint is running for the Timer Service, Search Service, and SSP Web Site.

  • SQL Login: Enter a SQL Server type user name and password that has read access to your database. An Active Directory login will not work here and requires your server to support mixed mode authentication.
