Metadata specific settings to enhance Microsoft Copilot functionality

In Connectivity Hub 4.0, functionality was added to allow admins to specify metadata specific settings for a content source. These settings allow Microsoft Copilot to leverage more information when deciding if indexed content is relevant to the users query. Currently, only the Microsoft Search targets support metadata specific settings for Microsoft Copilot. The following settings can be configured:

  • Metadata specific setting: Semantic label

To add a metadata specific setting to your content source, do the following:

  1. On the Connectivity Hub Administration portal, click Content Source from the left panel.

  2. On an existing content source, click the Sprocket icon, then click Metadata.

  3. From the Metadata page, select the sprocket icon for a metadata property and click Edit.

  4. From the Edit Metadata Property window, click the Target Specific tab.

  5. In the Semantic label field, select a label from the drop-down menu. You can only select one semantic label per metadata property. You can select the same semantic label for multiple metadata properties, but a warning message will be displayed at the top of the metadata list and in the crawl log. Possible semantic labels include the following:

    • CreatedBy

    • CreatedDateTime

    • FileName

    • LastModifiedBy

Connectivity Hub also provides built-in labels for Microsoft Copilot which are automatically assigned to built-in properties and cannot be modified. These labels include the following:
    • Authors: escbase_author
    • FileExtension: escbase_fileextension
    • LastModifiedDateTime: escbase_lastupdateutc
    • Title: escbase_title
    • Url: escbase_url
  6. After selecting your label, you will need to specify the values in the subsequent fields that appear.

  7. Click Save.
