Configure your connections General Settings

Refer to the table below for information on the General Settings that you can specify when configuring a target. For more information, see How to configure your target.

  1. In Connectivity Hub, click Connections.

  2. Select an existing connection or create a new one.

  3. On the General Settings tab, specify the following fields:

    Setting Description
Include base properties This checkbox is enabled by default. When this setting is enabled, it sends the esc_base properties to the index. These properties are mandatory to ensure security trimming and integration with Smart previews. BA Insight recommends that you do not disable these properties.
Allow items with no extension This checkbox is not enabled by default. When this setting is enabled, it allows items with no (null) value in the file extension property to be indexed.
    File types to include

This field specifies a comma separated list of the file extensions that are included in the index. For example, to allow MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel files, you enter the following extensions in this field: doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx.

this field is empty by default, which includes ALL file types.

    File types to exclude

This field specifies a comma separated list of the file extensions that are excluded in the index. For example, to prevent style sheets, JavaScript, and EXML files from being crawled, you enter the following extensions in this field: css,js,xml.

This field is empty by default, which allows ALL file types.

    Number of sync threads

This value is the number of threads that Connectivity Hub will use for each crawl job that uses this Target. This thread count is applied to each crawl job that is run for the same target. For example, if you specify the number of sync threads as 8, and you have 2 jobs running for this target, then 16 threads will be used.

If you pause a job, change the number of threads, and then resume your job, the job leverages the additional threads.
