About the ndMirror connector

ndMirror is a synchronization service that allows you to automatically create a mirror copy of your NetDocuments cloud documents on a local drive. This essentially creates a local, offline backup of your documents for easier access and offline working capabilities. The ndMirror connector allows you to create a connection Connection defines the how Connectivity Hub connects to your Source System (which contains your documents, graphics, etc.,). Your Connection includes identifying elements such as: URL of the BA Insight web service connector you are using, (File Share connector, SharePoint Online connector, etc.), Authentication mode, User Accounts and Credentials, Database information (for database connectors) to your NetDocuments content, without having to call the NetDocuments API during crawls.

Features

  • Enables searching for any kind of document stored in NetDocuments.
  • Operates with minimal impact on NetDocuments. Once content is crawled, all search activity takes place in SharePoint, or any other portal.
  • Provides high performance indexing so large amounts of content can be made available to users.
  • Leverages NetDocuments security to determine which documents users can access.
  • All content remains safely in NetDocuments. The portal has only a searchable representation of documents (pointers) and users are directed back to NetDocuments to launch documents found in their search result.
  • Ability to index a local instance of NetDocuments, negating the need to call the NetDocuments API during crawls.

Security

The connector honors the security of the source system Your Source System is the repository where your data is stored (data to be indexed). This repository is managed by applications such as: - SharePoint O365 - SharePoint 2013/16/19 - Documentum - File Share - OpenText - Lotus Notes - etc. Your Source System repository can also be a database such as SQL or Oracle..

Limitations

Note the following limitations with the NetDocuments connector:

  • BA Insight NetDocuments Connector does not crawl the following NetDocuments objects:
    • Folders (file type ndfld)
    • Saved searches (file type ndsq).
  • To compare your crawled NetDocuments items with any NetDocuments search, you must exclude folders and saved search file types (ndfld and ndsq) to perform an equal comparison.

Versioning

  • The connector retrieves content and metadata Provides context with details such as the source, type, owner, and relationships to other data sets. Metadata provides details around the item being crawled by Connectivity Hub. of the Official Version of the document from NetDocuments.

  • Metadata available related to the item version is (all this metadata is extracted from NetDocuments Standard Attributes):
