IBM Notes Connector Troubleshooting

  • Issue: When you click Connect or Refresh Web Service, an error occurs
    • Solution: Use Enable Tracing to get the details about this error.
  • Issue: Accessing Domino Servers: Unable to find the path to the server
    • Solution: Use the following steps:

Procedure:

  1. Run an iisreset operation.
  2. Start the Notes client.
  3. Office: Click and select Edit Current.
  4. Click the Servers tab.
  5. Verify that the server listed as the Mail server is valid by using File-Preferences-User-Preferences-Trace in the Notes client.
    After the field has a valid connectable server, the GetServers call works.
  • Issue: Failure loading servers: No servers returned
    The Web Service cannot connect to the Domino server.
    • Solution: Check whether the server is available and the Lotus Notes client is connected to the service.
  • Issue: Loading repositories/Executing a job
    • Solution: Wrong password
      • The wrong password is specified for the user account being used by the Lotus Notes client to connect to Domino server.
      • Check the Notes password field.
  • Issue: Unable to load the DLL file 'SPWEM.dll': The specified module could not be found.
    • Solution:
      • The installer might fail to copy the SPWEM.DLL to the Lotus Notes installation directory.
      • Check the location of this library and, if necessary, manually copy the SPWEM.DLL.
      • This DLL must be in the same directory as the nnotes.dll file.
      • The installer writes the following settings to the notes.ini file.
      • If this error occurs ("Unable to load the DLL file 'SPWEM.dll'"), manually insert the following code:

           EXTMGR_ADDINS=SPWEM

           CLIENT_RECEIVE_TIMEOUT_MULTIPLIER=10

           NAMELOOKUP_MAX_MB=1000

    • Make sure that the Lotus Notes installation directory was added to the PATH environment variable.
  • Issue: Test bench is showing empty metadata Provides context with details such as the source, type, owner, and relationships to other data sets. Metadata provides details around the item being crawled by Connectivity Hub. for some crawled items
    • Solution: This error occurs when you activate any content filter other that Include All in the Connector Framework Test Bench.

      In other words, there is erroneous output that has no bearing on the selected crawl items

      Note: This output in the Connector Framework Test Bench is due to a limitation in the interaction of the Lotus Notes Connector with the content filters in the Connector Framework.

      • In other words, if the content filter is set to a value other than Include All, the Connector Framework Test Bench shows numerous items with no metadata.

      • If tracing is enabled, the Test Bench also displays information indicating that these items are marked as deleted.

      • In other words, these items are not being indexed according to the filter, and their listing in the Test Bench is redundant and can be ignored.

      • This Test Bench behavior has no effect on the crawl results.

See an example of typical output for a filtered item in the Test Bench:
