How to Install and Configure Your Connector

Installation

Most BA Insight connectors are installed in the same, repeatable fashion. If your connector requires specialized installation, that information is provided in the connector's help topics. To install your BA Insight connector, use an installation video (optional), and the generic installation instructions in the connector topic.

Most connectors are simply downloaded from the Upland Right Answers Portal to your source machine, unblocked, extracted, and installed using the installation wizard. Configure your connector in Connectivity Hub using the specific settings contained in your connector topic.

BA Insight Connector Installation by Type

BA Insight connectors are either a Web-service connector or Database connector. Refer to the following table for more information:

Web-service connector

Most BA Insight connectors are of this type. Sub-types include:

  • Datastore: MS Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint Online/On-Premise, eVault, ServiceNow, and Symantec Vault
  • Repository: Documentum, IBM FileNet, IBM Connections, Micro Focus Content Manager, Microsoft Dynamics, NetDocuments, OpenText Content Server, and Salesforce
  • Other: FileShare, WebCrawler, and more
  • Custom: BA Insight can create connectors customized to your specialized needs and applications: this is not commonly requested.

Web-service connector are contained in an .msi file downloaded from the Upland Right Answers Portal. You install web-service connector to your IIS server using the installation wizard. Once installed, these connectors will appear under Sites in your IIS server. Each connector has a default port number than can be found and changed in IIS.

Database connectors

BA Insight Connectors of this type are SQL templates. For example, Aderant, eDocs, iManage, Interaction, SQL (any relational database system), and West KM. Database connectors are contained in a .zip file and downloaded from the Upland Right Answers Portal.

The Database connector template is imported into your connectivity Hub application. Once imported, you can create a connection Connection defines the how Connectivity Hub connects to your Source System (which contains your documents, graphics, etc.,). Your Connection includes identifying elements such as: URL of the BA Insight web service connector you are using, (File Share connector, SharePoint Online connector, etc.), Authentication mode, User Accounts and Credentials, Database information (for database connectors) and content source Content Sources do the following: Receive data from the Source System via the Connection, Filter the data it receives, Provide the results to the Target, Define the specific search index that contains the content you wish to index (and later search). in Connectivity Hub to facilitate communication to the source system Your Source System is the repository where your data is stored (data to be indexed). This repository is managed by applications such as: - SharePoint O365 - SharePoint 2013/16/19 - Documentum - File Share - OpenText - Lotus Notes - etc. Your Source System repository can also be a database such as SQL or Oracle.. The template contains all the SQL code required to retrieve data from the database
