Configure the general settings

The general settings page allows you to configure various key settings of SmartHub. These settings are necessary to be able to query indexed content from your content sources and surface them in your SmartHub results. The general settings page is split into the following four sections:

  • General settings

  • Search engines

  • User experience tuning

  • Import/export settings

Refer to the following table for more information on what each section will allow you to configure:

Section Description
General settings

The General Settings section allows you to do the following:

Search Engines From the Search Engine section, you can connect SmartHub to your search engine. If you have existing search engines, you will be able to view them, change their status, and delete the search engine. If you click on the search engine, you can edit the search engine settings and apply user experience tuning at the search engine level.
User Experience Tuning From the User Experience Tuning section, you can add and edit results and query tuning stages. User experience tuning stages added to this section are applied at the global level and will impact all search engines.
Import/export settings This section allows you to import or export the FederatorConfiguration.xml file. This section is especially useful if you are upgrading your version of SmartHub and you want to ensure that you maintain your settings post-upgrade.
