A workflow process is comprised of different steps. The steps can require that a user take action on the document that has been routed to them or the system can automatically perform an action when the document arrives at the step. Once the step is completed the document will move on to the next step in the process until it reaches the end of the process.
A workflow process can have an unlimited number of process steps, but must consist of at least one process step. A workflow process step can have one or more tasks associated with it, but it is not mandatory for a process step to have a task associated with it.
