About Universal Input Connector

The Universal Input connector enables HP CR to support integration with external software systems. HP CR also can receive documents and metadata sent from the third-party system and deliver the content to one or more intended destinations.

HP CR and third-party system integration use HP CR’s Universal Input connector to receive documents and metadata which have been exported from the third-party system. An XSLT translation parses the XML sent back from the third-party system and maps this information to appropriate properties of the job created on the HP CR server. HP CR then processes the returned job based on these properties and routes it to its intended destination(s).

Universal Input connector requirements

The Universal Input connector requires shared folders with correct permissions for the connector to monitor.

Use the following guidelines when creating folders for the Universal Input connector to scan.

  • Locate the folders on the HP CR server or any other computer in the local area network.

  • All folders must be shared, with the Server user account having full control. User accounts for individual users and devices must have write permissions.

  • Create one folder if you want invalid XML files to remain in the folder until someone deletes them. Create two folders if you want the Universal Input connector to move invalid XML files to a different folder.
