FAQ-1502: SP1 Causes Activation Issues

Description

I updated my operating system with Service Pack 1 (SP1) and PlanetPress Suite now tells me it’s not activated. What do I do?

The magic number used in our activation method is highly dependent on some aspects of your system hardware and operating system. When updating to Service Pack 1, this triggers a change in the magic number because of a change in the operating system. Because we cannot know exactly what this change is before it happens, it will cause PlanetPress Suite to stop functioning. However, we will always update our software with a minor release as soon as an operating system’s first service pack is made available to us. We strongly advise waiting for this minor release (which normally takes no more than one week) and install it before updating to SP1.

If you have updated to SP1 and a new release is not available yet, you may request a new activation code by going to www.objectiflune.com/activations and clicking Request an Activation under the Re-activation section. Note that activation requests are processed only during business hours. Alternatively you can click on Activate under End-User Activation to get a temporary activation code which will last for 7 days. Note however that when you install the minor release meant to resolve activation issues for SP1, you will need to revert to your original activation code as the new one will no longer work.

This affects all versions of Windows at the release of their first Service Pack. For example, Windows 7/2008 R2 SP1 released in February 2011 prompted PlanetPress Suite 7.2.4.
