FAQ-1063: Dongle Not Recognized

Description

When starting PrintShop Mail Design the splash screen says "Designer Mode" (aka Demo Mode), only 25 credits are available and a watermark is visible on all pages.

Solution

There are a few reasons why this would happen.

Problem Solution
The USB port where the dongle is plugged in is defective

Try the USB dongle in another port.

Your operating system did not recognize the dongle Download the latest drivers for Windows or for Mac OS. Install the driver and plug the dongle back into the computer.
The dongle is on a USB hub, keyboard hub, USB splitter, etc Plug the dongle directly into the computer, not in a hub. The hub may not be providing enough power for the dongle.
You are running PrintShop Mail in a Virtual Machine Make sure to connect the dongle as a USB device on the virtual machine (in VMWare, click VM then Removable Device and connect the Alladin HASP key).
You are running PrintShop Mail in an ESX environment This is not a supported environment as the USB dongle cannot be connected to the machine or bridged to it.
The Dongle is defective Try another machine to make sure. If it does not work on 2 machines, contact Customer Service for a replacement.
