INFO-1514: Printing from Win7/Vista to WinXP/2003 WinQueue Input

When printing from a newer operating system (Windows Vista and higher) to a paused printer queue located on a previous version of Windows (2003, XP for example), through a WinQueue Input Task, it may happen that a PostScript job is received, instead of an EMF file.

This happens because in Windows Vista and higher, processing of the output job is done directly on the client computer instead of being done on the server. This can make print servers faster, but it prevents PlanetPress from obtaining the raw print data.

Solution

In order to restore functionality, the following needs to be done on the client computer (not the server):

• In the "Printer Properties" on the Windows Vista/7 computer, go in "Sharing"
• Make sure both the "Share this Printer" and "Render print jobs on the local computer" options are unchecked.
• Go in "Advanced" and make sure "Enable advanced printing features" is checked.
• Click on "Print Processor" and select "NT EMF 1.0003".
