System requirements

These are the system requirements for OL Connect 2026.1.

Operating system

Any 64-bit Windows Desktop or Server version which is in its mainstream support period, as defined by https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/lifecycle/.

New versions of Windows are supported within the first 6 months of their commercial release.

Note: ARM CPUs are not supported. This applies to machines running Windows on ARM and virtualization software running on Apple computers, such as Parallels Desktop.
Note: OL Connect 2026.1 will not install on Windows Server 2016. While Windows Server 2016 remains on Microsoft Extended Support until January 12, 2027, this includes only security updates. Two required Unicode support DLLs ("icuuc.dll" and "icuin.dll") are not included in those security updates.

Supported virtual environments

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS)

  • Google Cloud Platform

  • Microsoft Hyper-V/Azure

  • Nutanix AHV

  • VMWare vCenter/vSphere

Note: Multi-user environments like Terminal Services or VMWare Horizon are not officially supported.

Minimum system requirements for OL Connect / Workflow

As with any software application, these minimum hardware requirements represent the most basic hardware on which the software will run:

  • CPU: at least a 64-bit CPU with 4 physical cores.

  • RAM: at least 16 GB.

  • Storage: at least 100GB available on fast SSD for the system drive (by default, this means the C drive).

  • Networking: at least 1Gbps.

Note: A minimum specification system is unlikely to produce the performance expected of a production environment. It can be used when configuring a trial or a development system, however.

Rules of thumb

When installing on multiple computers, keep the following rules of thumb in mind:

  • The more logical processors, the better.

  • Higher CPU clock speeds are recommended: 24 logical processors @3GHz may perform better than 32 logical processors @2.2 GHz, depending on the workload.

  • For each additional logical processor, plan to add 2 GBs of RAM.

  • The number of logical processors is in direct relation with the number of OL Connect engines that can efficiently run concurrently.

Caution: OL Connect is used for a very wide variety of applications. Consequently, it is difficult to determine which system configuration will produce the best results for any given application.

The specifications and recommendations above are therefore meant as general guidelines that should produce the expected results for most implementations.

Keep in mind, however, that they may not represent the optimal configuration for your particular application.
