The GDI Printer Output (or Windows Driver Output) Print Technology allows you to print to a non PostScript Printer, using a Windows printer driver installed on your system.
This option is not available in the Preferences panel with the others Print Technologies. GDI Printing will be automatically applied when selecting a non Postscript printer in the Page Setup or in the Print Dialog.
When selecting a non PostScript printer the print output will not be optimized, printing and spooling time will be significantly slower compared to other technologies. This is because the job needs to be converted into the Windows printing language (EMF) before being sent to the printer.
The Print Dialog will show the following message:
"The selected printer driver is not a Postscript Level 2 compatible device. Printing speed will be reduced and some features might not be supported”.
