Adobe PDF Print Technology allows you to save optimized PDF output files to disk directly from PrintShop Mail. The PDF output files can be used for printing to PostScript level 3 printers and soft proofing when uploading PrintShop Mail documents to PrintShop Web.

When using “Adobe PDF” Print Technology, it is advised to activate Split job option for the best performance.

Adobe PDF/VT-1

The Adobe PDF/VT-1 (or VT1) print technology is a VDP type of file, similar to PPML/VDX and VPS files. The PDF/VT-1 format was created by Adobe as an alternative to vendor-specific VDP technologies that were only available on certain printers, instead creating a more "open" format that could be compatible with more printer brands and models.

The main features of Adobe PDF/VT-1 Technology are:

Image Caching: Each image is saved at the beginning of the file and each instance of the image points to this saved copy, which means images are never repeated.
Printing Speed: On printers that can natively print PDF/VT-1 files, the print speed is much higher compared to regular PDFs.

Print dialog box settings

PDF Settings: Select one of the .joboptions files on the system. .joboptions are generally created by Adobe Distiller and saved in specific folders (look for joboptions in the Adobe Distiller manual for your versions to learn the location of the joboptions files).

JobOptions Location

The .joboptions files that are listed in the PDF Settings box can be located in two different folders, depending if they are document-specific or shared between documents.

Document-specific .joboptions files should be placed in the same folder as your PrintShop Mail Design Document (.psmd) file. It will not be visible from any other document.
Global .joboptions files should be placed in a specific shared location, which (on any system) can be accessed through the following folder: %AllUsersProfile%\Shared Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings\
