Object Types Overview

Object types are the basis of PowerSteering upon which other items are built. They have the following characteristics:

  • Can be projects, ideas, organizations, programs, or none of these.
  • Can appear on timesheets or be not allowed on timesheets.
  • Can be customized with icons.
  • Can be assigned allowed and required roles.
  • Can be assigned "parents" to control where they are allowed in the Work Tree.
  • Can be selected when creating new roles, tags, custom fields, and templates.

PowerSteering comes pre-configured with a few different object types. You are not able to create new object types from scratch, but you can copy an existing object type and build a new object based on it.

Note: The Object Types page is used as a reference for administrators. For object type change requests, please contact your PowerSteering Customer Success Manager.
