Grant Security Rights to Budgets

Managing Budgets effectively is a critical part of project planning and financial oversight. In PSA, Budget access is controlled through a set of user rights that determine who can View, Create, Modify, or Delete Budgets. These rights also govern access to related functionality, such as managing Budget Baselines, ensuring that only authorized individuals can make changes that impact financial tracking and reporting.

This article guides administrators on assigning appropriate access based on user roles and responsibilities for effective project financial management.

Note: When creating or updating a Project, Task or Assignment Budget, ensure that logged Users performing the Budget Imports are assigned the following:

The Import Budget link is enabled only after the appropriate budgeting licenses are ordered and logged users are assigned the required security rights to the Budget Component in their security profile.

  1. From the Icon Bar click Setup .
  2. From the Navigation Menu click Organization.
  3. From the menu click System.
  4. From the System page click the Security button to access the Security setup page.

  5. Click the expand button () located against a User Security Role Placeholder, if applicable to view the available Security Roles.
  6. Select a Security Profile.

    Select a Security Role.

  7. Upon the Security Profile page displaying, select Setup from the menu.
  8. From the available options select Financial.
  9. If not already, select the appropriate options for the Budget Security Component: View, Modify, Create and Delete.
  10. Select Save.

    11. Note:

    • The Generate rollup Budget link (Project List > Project > Planners > Budget) will be available for Users with Create Budget rights.
    • The Notifications tab (Project List > Project > Planners > Budget) is always available by default.

Permission Behaviour Overview for Project Budgets

View Right Only

  • The Current column is read-only.
  • The Baseline option located within the context menu is hidden.

Modify Right

  • The Current column is editable.
  • The Baseline option located within the context menu is hidden.

Create Right

  • Users granted this right can create new Baselines, rename them, update the Reason and Description, as well as modify the Active baseline.
  • The Current column is editable.
  • The Baseline option located within the context menu is visible.

Delete Right

  • Users granted this right can delete Baselines.
