Processing Overtime: Accumulation Rules tab (Legacy Timesheet)

The system administrator, or the person customizing the PSA installation, must also decide on some settings regarding logged and used overtime by employees. These govern how any earned overtime is to be used as banked overtime, i.e., for overtime not paid, but rather exchanged later for time off.

From the Accumulation Rules tab located under Setup > Timesheet > Timesheet Templates > Timesheet Template Edit > Overtime Policy define the following general accumulation rules:

  1. From the Rule Typeselection box choose how the overtime is processed:
    1. Minimum of each rule: all accumulation rules are processed independently and the minimum value is kept; for example, if daily and weekly rules are specified, the system first calculates the overtime for the daily and weekly rules separately, and then keeps the one which is most advantageous to the employer.
    2. Maximum of each rule: all accumulation rules are processed independently and the maximum value is kept; for example, if daily and weekly rules are specified, the system first calculates the overtime for the daily and weekly rules separately, and then keeps the one which is most advantageous to the user.
  2. Overtime/Double overtime to Regular Time ratio to calculate rule total: Specify the ratio between the regular time and overtime/double overtime to determine the minimum and maximum of the rules.

  3. From the Banked overtime section:
    1. Select Enforce Banked overtime to a maximum value of <x> hour(s) to specify a maximum value for the banked overtime being accumulated.
    2. Select Add to Banked overtime after <x> hour(s) of Overtime at a multiple of <x> to specify the number of hours from the overtime that is added to the user’s banked overtime (system calculated amount). You can then select Allow User to override banked overtime hour(s) to allow the user to override the number of hours of banked overtime calculated by the system.
    3. Select Add to Banked overtime after <x> hour(s) of Double overtime at a multiple of <x> to specify the number of hours from the double overtime that is added to the user’s banked overtime (system calculated amount). You can then select Allow User to override banked overtime hour(s) to allow the user to override the number of hours of banked overtime calculated by the system.
