Associate Billing Rules With a Client

The Billing button views and creates billing rules for clients. Billing rules refer to all work and entries that should be billed to the client. Often such rules are defined at the task or project level. In some cases, however, a company may wish to declare a flat hourly rate for all costs related to a client. The same idea relates to client level billing rules.

This article details how to associate billing rules with a client.

To associate cost rules to clients:

  1. From the Icon Bar click Setup .
  2. From the Navigation Menu click Work to expand the corresponding menu.
  3. From the Work menu items, click Clients.
  4. From the Clients list that displays, click the Name of the client you wish to access.
  5. From the Settings tab of the Client Edit page, expand the Financial navigation menu
  6. Click Billing.
  7. From the Hourly Billing page click New to create a new rule.
  8. Select the appropriate Effective Start and Effective End dates.
  9. In the Hourly Rates section, fill in the Regular time, Overtime and Double Overtime amounts.
  10. Use Browse to select a Currency type.
  11. Enter a description in the Description box.

    Note: The maximum allowable value in Cost/Billing Rules (Financial System, Project, Client, Work Type, etc.) is $999,999,999.99, with the following exceptions for rules set at the Project and Task levels:

    • Fixed Cost/Billing Rule (Prorating): Maximum allowable value is $9,999,999,999.99
    • Fixed Cost/Billing Rule (Flat Charge): Maximum allowable value is $9,999,999,999,999.99
    • Fixed Cost/Billing Rule (Tiered): Maximum allowable value is $9,999,999,999.00
  12. Click Save to apply your changes.
  13. Upon the page refreshing, view your newly heated Hourly Billing Rule listed.
