Document type mappings

Document type mapping allows you to map an object in Salesforce.com to the same object in Upland Qvidian. An object is either an account, contact, or opportunity. You can further map one or more object fields directly related to the object and then, if applicable, map one or more values for each field. For a mapped record, you can then select one or more document type that has Upland Qvidian projects set up to retrieve Salesforce.com data. This data will populate the fields in a specified Data Entry Screen Component in each Upland Qvidian project. Specified objects, fields, or values can also be Merge code mapping.

Add a new document type mapping

  1. Go to Administration > Salesforce > Document Type Mapping.
  2. Click + to choose an SFDC Object to map to. The Document Type Mapping panel will display to the right.
  3. Select your desired standard or custom Object from the dropdown menu. A record is created for each object selected.
  4. Note: The custom objects displayed in the dropdown menu are populated from the objects that have been exposed to the API. The list of custom objects exposed to the API is controlled by the "Custom Objects" tab of an Integration Connection (select the checkboxes of the custom objects that should be exposed to the API and therefore will be available in the Doc Type Mapping custom objects dropdown menu).

Example: If you select all three objects and add one field, then there will be three records created each with the one specified field. If you map an object (for example, Account) without mapping any fields or values (for fields), then all data in fields/values for this object in SFDC will be retrieved in Upland Qvidian. You will not be able to map that object again as it will be disabled on the page.

  5. Enter the name of the Field for the selected object. You can add one or more fields for an object.
  6. Note: "Field" in Upland Qvidian refers to "Field Name" in SFDC (not Field Label).

Example: When adding multiple fields for an object, you must also add an equivalent number of records. If you want to add three of five fields for an object, you must add three consecutive records (for example, Object and Field 1; Object and Field 2; Object and Field 3).

  7. Enter the Value of the field for the selected objects. You can add one or more values for a field.
  8. Note: If a value is not specified for a field, then all data in values for this field in SFDC will be retrieved to Upland Qvidian. You will not be able to map that field again as it will be disabled on the page.

Example: When adding multiple values for an object, you must also add an equivalent number of records. If you want to add three of five values for a field, you must add three consecutive records (for example, Object, Field and Value 1; Object, Field and Value 2; Object, Field and Value 3).

  9. Select Document Types to Allow to retrieve SFDC data:
    • To search for a document type, enter text into the search box and click or Enter. To re-display all records, delete the entire entry in the box by clicking the X.
    • Select the checkbox(es) of the desired document types.
    • To select all document types, click More menu , and select Select All from the menu.
    • To remove all document types, click More menu , and select Deselect All from the menu.
  10. Click Save or Cancel to close without saving changes.
