Export a document type

You can export a document type, including templates and content, and then import it into another Upland Qvidian instance. You may want to export and import document types if you are moving from a sandbox to a production instance of Upland Qvidian, or combining multiple Upland Qvidian instances into one instance.

  1. Go to Architecture > Document Types to open the "Document Type Export" dialog using one of the following methods:
    • Hover over the document type you want to export, click the More Options More Options menu menu, and select Export.
    • Select the checkbox of the document type you want to export, click the More Options More Options menu menu at the top of the page, and select Export.
  2. Enter the Export File Name.
  3. (Optional) Select the Include Templates and Include Content checkboxes to include those elements in the export.
  4. Select one of the following options:
    • Email link to file when processing is complete: Select if you want to receive an email with a link to download the exported zip file. When the export is complete Upland Qvidian will send an email with a link to download the content.
    • Wait and download when processing is complete: Select if you want to immediately download the exported zip file. The export request will be processed and the file will download automatically when it's ready. If you don't want to wait for the download process to complete, click OK in the confirmation dialog. When the export is complete Upland Qvidian will send an email with a link to download the content.
  5. Click Export.

Note: The SPSJobMaxWait global setting specifies how long Upland Qvidian will wait for the export to complete. If this time elapses, you will be notified and Upland Qvidian will send an email with a link to download the content.
