This guide lists the server software and hardware requirements for installing and running the Tenrox software.
System Requirements
Tenrox requires the following external packages to run properly in the installed and configured machines:
- Windows Installer 3.0 or higher
- MDAC 2.8 or higher
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 or 2008 Redistributable Package (X86)
- Microsoft .NET Framework Version 3.5 Redistributable Package (X86) or higher
- Microsoft SQL 2008 System CLR Types (X86)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client (X86)
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects (X86)
Note: All the listed components are mandatory for the successful installation of the Tenrox application. The installation process verifies the minimum requirements and automatically installs any missing component.
Database Server Requirement
Tenrox requires a Database Management System (DBMS) to operate. The Tenrox application supports SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008 R2.
Available as of: Ternox 2014 R3 support for SQL Server 2012.
Deprecated as of: Tenrox 2011 R3, SQL Server 2005 support.
Operating System Requirements
Tenrox runs on the following operating systems:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 32-bit and 64-bit versions for the Application Server and Database Server
Deprecated as of:
- Tenrox 2014 R3 support for operating systems below Windows Vista SP2, for client machines.
- Tenrox 2011 R3, Microsoft Windows Server 2003 support.
Web Server Requirements
The Tenrox server uses industry-standard Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), Asynchronous Javascript and XML (AJAX), Active Server Pages (ASP) and ASP .NET technology. It also requires Internet Information Services (IIS) version 7.0 for Windows Server 2008 R1 or 7.5 for Windows Server 2008 R2; for more information, see Operating System Requirements.
Note: The Web services extensions must be enabled for Active Server Pages.

Hardware Requirement Recommendations
This section lists the recommended hardware requirements for running the Tenrox applications.
Up to 500 Users
The following hardware requirements are recommended for the deployment of 500 users or less:
Web Server:
- Windows 2008 SP2 64-bit (x64)
- Processor (one): Intel XEON 55xx series or later (or equivalent AMD Opteron) with at least a quad core processor
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
Database Server:
- Windows 2008 R2 64-bit (x64)
- SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition; Enterprise Edition required if using Online Analytical Processing (OLAP)
- Processor (one or two): Intel XEON 55xx series or later (or equivalent AMD Opteron) with at least quad core processors
- Memory: 4 GB RAM (8 GB recommended)
Over 500 Users
The following hardware requirements are recommended for the deployment of more than 500 users:
Web Server:
- Windows 2008 SP2 64-bit (x64)
- Processor (two): Intel XEON 55xx series or later (or equivalent AMD Opteron) with at least quad core processors
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
Database Server:
- Windows 2008 R2 64-bit (x64)
- SQL Server 2008 Standard Edition; Enterprise Edition required if using OLAP
- Processor (two): Intel XEON 55xx series or later (or equivalent AMD Opteron) with at least quad core processors
- Memory: 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended)
