About OAuth New Refresh Token Issuance

Upland AccuRoute in conjunction with NetDocuments support the OAuth (Open Authorization) New Refresh Token Issuance for enhanced security and flexibility. OAuth is an access delegation standard so that users can grant applications access to other applications without user password credentials. It basically allows tokens instead of passwords to be issued to third-party applications by an authorizing server. The third party then uses the tokens to access protected resources hosted by a resource server.

The authorization or method of granting tokens involves using both Access and Refresh tokens. When an Access token expires, an application can use the Refresh token to get a new Access token. No user involvement is necessary making it seamless to the user.

What is the new Refresh token lifetime?

The Refresh tokens last 40 days and are renewed automatically with every use of Upland AccuRoute (NetDocuments-enabled) applications. Users do not have to reauthorize NetDocuments if the Upland AccuRoute applications are used at least once every 40 days. However, authorization will expire after 40 days and users must reauthorize if the Upland AccuRoute application was not used at least once during the 40-day token lifetime. A login error message will be displayed if this occurs.

Note: An upgrade to the Server, Desktop Client and Queue from a previous installation will require a reauthorization of NetDocuments.
