About Inbound Messages

You can configure special routing rules for inbound messages on the Upland AccuRoute server. These rules determine how messages are processed and delivered. You can route inbound messages to the  following destinations.

  • Database - Using the Database connector with appropriate routing rules, you can configure the server to route inbound messages to an SQL database.

  • Document Management System (DMS) - Using the DMS connector with appropriate routing rules, you can configure the server to route inbound messages to a supported DMS.

  • Exchange users - Using the Exchange connector with the appropriate routing rules, you can route inbound messages to Exchange users with Outlook. You also can configure DID/DTMF lookup for inbound messages that are routed to the Exchange connector.

  • Folders - Using an inbound routing rule that specifies a folder as a destination for messages meeting the criteria in the rule, you can specify that the server routes inbound messages to the folder.

  • Notes users - Using the Notes connector with the appropriate routing rules, you can route inbound messages to Notes users. You can also configure DID/DTMF lookup for inbound messages that are routed to the Notes connector.

  • Network printers - Using an inbound routing rule that specifies a network printer as the destination for messages meeting the criteria in the rule, you can specify that the server routes messages to the printer.

  • SAP - Using the SAP connector with appropriate routing rules, you can configure the server to route inbound messages to the SAP.

  • SMTP mail recipient - Using the SMTP connector with appropriate routing rules, you can configure the server to route inbound messages to SMTP mail users. You also can configure DID/DTMF lookup for inbound messages that are routed to the SMTP connector.

  • Fax machines - Using an inbound routing rule that specifies a fax machine (or other fax device) as the destination for messages meeting the criteria in the rule, you can specify that the server routes inbound messages to the fax machine.

Notifications

When the server delivers an inbound message, it generates and sends a notification to the message recipient.

Notifications can be sent:

  • With the inbound message as an attachment (the default).

  • With a link to the user's Inbox in the Web Client.

You can also customize server-generated notification messages.

FaxCenter

Use the FaxCenter feature if you want certain users in your company to review faxes before distributing them to the appropriate recipients. FaxCenter also has an After Hours feature which enables the server to route inbound faxes when no FaxCenter users are available.
