About Recipient Registration

When someone sends a fax with secure delivery, the Upland AccuRoute server does not deliver the fax until the recipient has registered with the server as a secure destination.

A closer look

When someone sends a fax with secure delivery to a recipient who has not registered with the server as a secure destination:

  1. The server determines whether the recipient has registered.

  2. If the recipient has not registered with the server as a secure destination, the server holds the outbound fax. While the server holds the fax, it generates another fax that tells the recipient how to register, and sends this fax to the recipient.

  3. The recipient must read the fax, sign it if the recipient agrees to the terms of secure delivery, and return the fax to the fax address indicated.

  4. When the server receives this inbound fax and detects that it is a recipient registration, it can release the original outbound fax to the recipient. Additionally, all faxes sent with secure delivery can be delivered to that recipient automatically.

Note: The server can detect inbound recipient registrations because they contain Embedded Directives.

More about registration

When the server registers a recipient destination as a secure destination, it registers the destination fax address. it does not associate this address with any information about the recipient, such as the recipient's name, company name, etc.

After a recipient has been registered as a secure destination, all faxes for that recipient will be delivered automatically.
