About Scan to Me

Scan to Me allows the Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator to configure the destination of documents scanned from a multifunction device using the Scan to Me button. The destination can be the user’s email (the default) or Active Directory home folder as specified by the Administrator.

Specifying the destination as a folder is useful when the device user does not have any specific Embedded Directive defined. In this case, when the user logs into the device and uses Scan to Me to scan a document, the process initiates a LDAP query to locate the destination folder and routes the scanned document to that folder.

In addition to specifying the destination, the Server Administrator can also specify the name and the format of the delivered scanned document.

You can configure Scan to Me by using the Server Administrator > Components node.

To configure Scan to Me

  1. Start the Server Administrator.
    On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

  2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

  3. Double-click Components. The Components are listed in the details pane.

  4. Double-click Embedded Directive Manager to open the Properties dialog box.

  5. Click Scan to Me.

  6. Select the Enable the additional Scan to Me processing for routing to a user's folder via LDAP Lookup option.  

  7. Click Add. The Lookup Properties dialog box appears and shows the Connection options.

  8. In the General section, configure the following:

    • In the Server Address box, type the server running the Active Directory.

    • In the Port box, type the port number (the default is 389).

    • In the Description box, type a description of the folder (the default is Folder Lookup).  

  9. In the Logon section, type the login credentials of a user with permissions to perform lookups and click Search to open the Search dialog box.

Note: You can use Anonymous if it is supported by your LDAP.

  1. In the General section, configure the following:

    • In the Search base text box, enter the full domain name. For example, if your full domain name is test.mycompany.com, enter dc=test, dc=mycompany, dc=com.

    • Set the Search Timeout option. The default is 10 minutes.

  2. If necessary, configure a Search filter.

  3. For Scope, select the Recursive option if you want the LDAP query to search recursively. If you want the LDAP query to search only at the specified search base, do not select the Recursive option.

  4. Click Test to test that the Connection and Search Base is configured correctly.

  5. Click Close then OK to go to the Scan to Me dialog box.

  6. In the Scan to Me dialog box, go to the Options section.  

  7. In the Delivery Filename box, enter an appropriate filename variable using the information in the table below. The variable you define here determines the delivered filename.

  8.  Select a delivery format from the Delivery format drop-down list.

Note: If the delivery format is set to PDF (OCR Image+Text) in Scan to Me tab of the Properties dialog box of the Embedded Directive Manager component, a scan job sent to the Scan to Me rule specifying to 'Use Originator' option will deliver the document in OCR PDF format provided the "Allow sender to override the delivery format" option is enabled in the outbound rule.

  1. Click OK to save your changes.

 

You can enable or disable the detection and removal of the back of a Routing Sheet page for duplex scans. This feature is enabled by default.

To disable blank page detection

  1. Start the Server Administrator.

  • On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

  1. Double-click Components. The components are listed in the details pane.
  2. Double-click Embedded Directive Manager to open the Properties for Embedded Directive Manager page.
  3. Click the Detection tab.
  4. Ensure the Detect and remove backside of routing sheet for duplex scans option is not selected.
  5. Click OK to save your changes.
