Adding a Database Connector

You must create a database and review the Database connector requirements  before you add a Database connector.

In addition, when adding a Database connector, you must:

  • Provide a connection string.

  • Provide a table name.

  • Choose whether you want to store the actual messages in a folder or in the database.

If you choose to store the actual messages in a folder, the Database connector saves information about the messages (including the network path to the actual message) in the database while saving the actual messages in the folder you select. If you choose to store the actual messages in the database, the Database connector saves information about messages and the actual messages in the database as binary data.

To add a Database connector

  1. Start the Server Administrator.
On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

  2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

  3. Right-click Connectors. Select New Upland AccuRoute Server connector > Database. The Create New Database Connector dialog box appears.

  4. The Run on the Message Server option is selected by default. If the modem server is local, click Next.

Alternately, if the modem server is remote, click Remote Server and enter the server name. Click Next.

  5. The system verifies that the product is installed on the system and opens the Display Name dialog box. In the Name text box, enter a descriptive name for the connector.

  6. Click Next. The Database Connection String dialog box appears.

  7. Enter the connection string to the database. For information on creating the connection string, see .

  8. Click Next. The new connector wizard validates the connection string and opens the Database Table Name dialog box.

  9. From the Table Name drop-down list, select the table where the message properties will be stored.

Note: The Table Name drop-down list is populated with the table names from the database. This list is empty if you did not create the database or if the connection string is not valid. In this case, manually enter the table name in the text box.

  1. Click Next. The Message Content page opens.

  2. Select the location where the inbound messages (the actual message content and not the message metadata) will be stored. For information on creating the connection string, see Guidelines for creating a database connection string.

    • Select Database to store messages as binary data.

    • Select Folder to store messages in a specified folder.

  3. Click OKand thenNext. The Congratulations dialog box appears.

  4. Click Finish. The Database connector is listed in the Connectors details pane.
