Adding a Desktop Client Connector

You can add a Desktop Client connector by using the Server Administrator > Connectors node.

Note:  Before adding a Desktop Client connector, review the Desktop Client Connector Requirements.

To add a Desktop Client connector

  1. Start the Server Administrator.
On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

  2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

  3. Right-click Connectors. Select New AccuRoute Server connector > Desktop Client. The Server Address dialog box appears.

  4. Click Next. The Display Name dialog box appears.

Alternately, if you want the connector to run on a remote server, click Remote Server and type a server name. Click Next.

  5. In the Name text box, type an appropriate name.

  6. Click Next. The Congratulations dialog box appears.

  7. Click Finish. The Desktop Client connector is listed in the Connectors details pane.

Configuring the Desktop Client connector

You can configure ports, clients, and inbound and outbound faxing for the Desktop Client connector.

Ports

Fax Sr. supports multiple port use, but the AccuRoute Server only supports a single set of ports. The AccuRoute Server is multi-threaded and, therefore, the Desktop Client connector is also multi-threaded. If your Fax Sr. system is using ports other than those listed below, you will need to make changes on the Fax Sr. Client v5.4 and set the ports to match the Desktop Client connector:

  • Client Manager Port #7778

  • Synch Manager Port #7779

If your system appears to slow down, you can increase the number of instances on the General tab of the Desktop Client connector properties. (Right-click on the connector and select Properties.)

Clients

The Desktop Client connector automatically enrolls users in the Registered Users Database by default when they send an outbound fax.

Inbound faxing

To allow inbound faxing, you must create a rule for each individual DID and user. For example, if you have 100 DIDs assigned to 100 users, you will need to create 100 rules. To create a new inbound rule, refer to Creating Inbound and Outbound Faxing Rules.

Outbound faxing

To allow outbound faxing, the Fax. Sr. Client must be installed. In the Fax Sr. Client, go to Tools > Options > Server and change the server name or IP address to connect to the Upland AccuRouteServer.
