Enabling Universal Input Translation

The Universal Input connector can process scanned documents and submit them to the Upland AccuRoute server only when XML translation for the folders specified in the Universal Input connector is enabled.

When you enable XML translation, You must create and keep the translation.xslt file in every folder you specify for XML translation. Without the this translation file, any XML file that does not have the XML format recognized by the server is labeled as an invalid file and is not processed by the server.

To enable XML translation

  1. Start the Server Administrator.
On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

  2. On the console, click Connectors. All connectors in the environment are listed in the details pane.

  3. Double-click the Universal Input connector to open the Properties dialog box.

  4. Click Folders.

  5. Select the folder that is listed and click Properties. The New Folder dialog box appears.

  6. Select Enable Xml Translation and click Add. The Enter Extension dialog box appears.

  7. Type *.xml and click OK to close the dialog box.

  8. Click OK to save your changes and close the New Folder dialog box.

Now, when an XML file and the document are picked up, the XML file is read by the server and the document is processed according to the rule it matches, including  the associated metadata.

More about metadata

The Universal Output connector delivers an XML file along with the document from the message. This XML file may contain metadata that is to be passed to an external system such as a forms recognition system.
