About Printer Connector

The Printer connector allows the Upland AccuRoute Server to route messages to network printers in a local area network (LAN). The Printer connector is an integral part of the server installation. It does not require special licensing, and you cannot delete it.

Note: This is a required connector for the server. You cannot remove it.

To access the Printer connector

  1. Start the Server Administrator.
    On the Start menu, click Upland AccuRoute > Upland AccuRoute Server Administrator.

  2. On the console, expand the Server Administrator tree.

  3. Select Connectors. The Connectors details pane lists the connectors that are licensed with your server.

  4. Double-click the Printer connector to view its properties.

UNC printing

The Printer connector supports printing to a machine specified by its UNC path (\\PrintServer\Printer) when one of the following criteria is fulfilled.

  • The printer is located in the same domain as the server.

  • The printer is located on a different domain and has bidirectional trust with the server’s domain.

  • The printer drivers are installed on the server.

IP address printing

The Printer connector supports printing to a device specified by its IP address when one of the following criteria is fulfilled.

  • The printer is located in the same domain as the server.

  • The printer is located on a different domain and has bidirectional trust with the server’s domain.

  • The native print driver for the printer device is installed on the server.

  • The HP Color Laserjet printer driveis installed on the server and the destination printer is a HP multifunction device in the local area network.

Printer connector requirements

You must have the following installed and configured before you can use a Printer connector.  

  • At least one network printer that is shared and is accessible to the server.

  • At least one routing rule specifying the messages to route to the network printer. When creating the rules, use one of the following formats to indicate the location of the printer in the network.

    • UNC printers: \\PrintServer\Printer

    • IP printers: IP:123.45.67.89
