Hardware and Software Requirements

The Upland AccuRoute Server installation and configuration process automates a series of verification, installation and configuration tasks. However, before you can install the server on a system, you need to make some initial server configurations and assure hardware and software requirements are met.

The server installation requires a dedicated system that meets the following:

  • A Windows NT domain computer that always runs in the same domain and is not a domain controller
  • Processor
    • 16 GB +
    • Quad - Core Processor, 2.6 GHz +
    • Multi - Processors or Multi - Core Processors
  • Memory (RAM)
    • 16 GB +
  • Available Hard Disk Space
    • 200 GB +
    • (100 GB minimum)
    • Available hard disk space after installation of operating system and required applications

Note: Upland AccuRoute recommends using a core for each compose thread that is configured to do OCR. The server comes with two Compose threads. You can increase the number of threads as needed. Contact Technical Support for more information.

  • Operating System

    • Microsoft Windows 2012 R2, 2016, 2019 (64 - bit), 2022

  • Windows Active Directory - the server can only be installed in a Windows Active Directory environment. All server security and authentications are dependent on the Active Directory authentication.

  • Required Applications

    • Internet Information Server (IIS) with SMTP and Worldwide Web services enabled - The IIS configuration requires all of the components except FTP. An internet browser must also be installed.

    • Supported browsers include the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

  • SQL

    • SQL Express will be installed during the AccuRoute installation unless SQL Server is already installed on the server, or a "highly available" SQL instance is available to connect to.

    • SQL 2016, 2017, and 2019 are currently supported.

Microsoft.Net Framework (.Net)

  • .NET Core 6.x is required for AccuRoute WebApps.
  • .NET Framework 4.8 is required for the application server.
  • .NET 3.5 SP1 is required for Xerox EIP integrations.

Note: Recommended configuration subject to change based on customer environment. If installed on a virtual machine, the above resources must be dedicated. Internet connection (required for installing Microsoft.Net and for using cloud-based folders)

 

  • The service account that the AccuRoute server will run with must be a Local Admin and Domain User. It is not sufficient for the account to be just a Local User on the server.

  • The server must be a member of the Microsoft Windows Domain. It is not sufficient to be a stand-alone server in a Workgroup.

  • AccuRoute should be installed on a dedicated server/VM.

  • For hardware-based (non-Fax-Over-IP) faxing capabilities, the system must have a full-length or half-length PCI-x or PCI-e card slot available (depending on your purchased board) to accommodate a supported Dialogic Brooktrout Fax Board in order to connect to the telephone network.

Note: The PCI slot type and Dialogic Brooktrout Fax Board type must match, for example, if the slot type is PCI-e, the board must be PCI-e). If you have questions about what you purchased, please contact your Regional Sales Manager.

  • A PDF-reading application should be installed on the AccuRoute Server in order to view provided system documentation. Optional: Latest version of Acrobat Reader

  • ObjectArchive should be installed on a dedicated server in addition to the AccuRoute server if ObjectArchive is required for configuration.

  • Notes v5.x / v6.x /v6.5 Client (for Notes integration only)

 

A server installation also requires the following:

  • A service account. For instructions on how to create the service account, see Creating a service account.
  • Windows user account that belongs to the local Administrators group. For instructions on how to create this group, see Creating an Admins group.
  • Server license key
  • Licenses for any additional features that require a license
  • Configuring a service account for ExchangeX.

Note: This is required only if you are integrating with ExchangeX environment.

  • Installed MS SQL application. For instructions, see Installing Microsoft SQL Express.
  • Fax boards/modules installed, configured, and tested. This is required only for a server that supports faxing.

 

  • The server size is based on your document processing volume. Each conversion thread requires its own CPU/core and memory (use recommended 4GB RAM per thread).

  • The primary server requires one CPU/core to be reserved for the operating system, system manager, and connectors. A remote composer can utilize all of the CPU/cores.

 

Upland AccuRoute supports the Embedded Device Client on many devices. Refer to Supported Devices for a current and comprehensive list of supported devices.

 

The setup automatically installs a local Composer on the server. This is needed to compose documents into a final format. You can also install a Remote Composer if needed. For installation instructions, see Installing an additional Composer. The Local and Remote Composers must have the following application installed. For example, if you are planning on using Crystal Reports for Compose, it must be installed on the Compose server.

  • Crystal Reports v10.0 or earlier for *.RPT message attachments
