Data Template
Create a data template to make a preset view for data record tables when viewing the results of calculated fields, bandings, etc.
To get started:

Open the create menu by pressing the + icon in the main navigation menu.

Select the Data Template option from the list of functions.

The builder will open on the designer tab.
Tip: the field builder also includes a notes tab where you can add comments after saving your calculated field.
Creating a data template

Expand your data tree.

Drag and drop fields from your data tree into the designer to include those fields in your output table.
Tip: you can also create inline expressions for you template.

Note: the record number is always included as the first column.

In the function menu, press the Refresh button to confirm your data table appears with the columns as you expect.

If you need to re-order the columns, drag them into a different order within the designer.

If you need to remove a field/column, right-click and select Remove Field.

Press the Refresh button to confirm your changes when you re-order or remove a column.

When you are happy with the structure of the results table, press the Save or Save as button in the function menu.

Enter a name for your data template.

Enter a description.
Tip: you can also enter a description in the properties pane. This description will pre-populate the field when saving.

Select a location to save the data template within Audiences.
Tip: create folders and subfolders to organise your saved elements.

Press the Save button.
Adding an inline expression
Inline expressions are calculated fields that are entered specifically for the data template in which they appear.
To add an inline expression:

Open the function menu and press the Add Inline Expression button.

Select the blank inline expression field in the designer to open the syntax textbox.

Enter the syntax you want to calculate this column.
Tip: Audiences offers suggestions as you type to help you select the right fields and keywords.

In the function menu, press the Refresh button to confirm your data table appears with the columns as you expect.
