Remote Connections
Note: This is an On Demand feature. If you would like more information about this feature, contact your account manager at account.management@adestra.com.
Remote connections let you bring data hosted elsewhere into the Adestra system using our Remote Lists feature. This can save you time, as it means you don't need to import any data using the platform directly.
Remote connections supports HTTP and HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, and Salesforce.

Creating a Remote Connection
Remote connections are easy to set up, and this step-by-step guide will take you through the process, using an FTP protocol.
Step 1: Navigate to and Start Remote Connection Setup
Workspace>Data>Remote Connection>Click Create Connection
Navigate to the Remote Connections tab in the Data section of a workspace. Click "Create Connection" to bring up the creation form.
Step 2: Provide Connection Name
Give a name to the connection. This should be memorable and relevant to its purpose, as it is available when creating a new remote list or integration.
Step 3: Provide Description
The description is optional but allows more room to describe the purpose of the remote connection being created.
Step 4: Choose Permissions
Assign what workspaces are allowed to use the remote connection.
Step 5: Decide Connection Owner
This defaults to you, but can be changed if necessary.
Step 6: Choose Protocol
Choose the type of server that you are connecting to.
Step 7: Provide the Host URL
Provide the Host URL for the server.
Step 8: Provide Port Connection
You can provide the Port to connect on, however if you leave this blank it will use the default.
Step 9: Provide Username and Password
Give the username and password required to access the server.
Step 10: Test and Create
You can now test your Remote Connection to see if it is successful. When ready, then click create to finish the setup.
Managing Remote Connections
When you have created your remote connection it will be viewable on the main Remote Connection Page. It will display a list of all the configured remote connections for your workspace, which you can select for further details.
When you click a specific remote connection the Overview tab appears. Here you can view information regarding the connection's setup: Details, Server Information and Test Results.
From the Settings tab, you can see where the remote connection is in use, view the ID, Name and Owner of Remotes Lists that use the Remote Connection, and navigate to a connection by clicking its name.
